PGA Junior League
NMSU GC is excited to offer our juniors a FUN Golfing experience through the PGA Junior League which is designed to accommodate juniors under the age of 13. PGA Junior League Golf (PGA JLG) is designed to better socialize the game for boys and girls, ages 13 and under. PGA JLG features team vs. team competitions in structured leagues that provide a popular, less stressful scramble format as opposed to stroke-play competition. This is a great way to get kids involved in the game!
Team Not Individual
There is no individual scoring in PGA JLG. The two-player scramble format allows for all participants to feel connected with the team. Strong play is rewarded, while a poor shot does not lose the hole. Players of all skill levels are welcome and will contribute to the team’s success. Every player gets to play in every competition! Each team-vs-team competition in PGA JLG consists of four 9-hole matches. Each 9-hole match is broken down into three 3-hole segments that we call “Flags”. Actual “Flag” stickers are awarded to participants upon capturing a 3-hole point for their team. The stickers are collected by the players throughout the season, and proudly displayed on their PGA JLG bag-tags as a sign of accomplishment.
Advancement
After the regular-season City Champions are crowned, All-Star Teams are formed to compete in the advancement phase of PGA JLG. Advancement will take place through Regional competitions which will produce Regional Champions. These Regional Champions will compete in the PGA JLG Championship.
NMSU GC Junior League will accommodate your child’s instructional needs in addition to rules seminars, etiquette and playing opportunities which will be designed around the specific needs of each junior.
PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America. PGA HOPE introduces golf to Veterans with to enhance their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.
The Program introduces the game of golf through a developmental 6 week curriculum taught by PGA Professionals trained in adaptive and military cultural competency. ALL Programs are funded by PGA REACH and supplemented by PGA Section Foundations. THE COST OF THE PROGRAMMING IS FREE TO ALL VETERANS.
PGA HOPE has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), which enables Recreational Therapists to refer Veterans to the PGA HOPE program as a form of therapy. Through a robust strategy, PGA HOPE aspires to create physically and emotionally healthier Veteran community by shaping lives, changing lives, and possibly saving lives through the game of golf.
As part of the program veterans will be guided through all aspects of the Game of Golf by PGA Professionals, PGA Associates and PGA Golf Management Students. Whether a Veteran is brand new to the Game of Golf or has previous experience all participants will benefit from the lesson programming.

Our Goal: Shoot 36 (Par) or better in all 6 Levels
Operation 36 begins by scaling the golf course to a beginner's skill level. Play 9 holes from Level 1 – or an appropriate level based on your golf skill set. You will start by playing nine holes from Level 1, where the course is 225 yards long, meaning 25 yards per hole. Every hole is a Par 4, which is your target amount of strokes to hole the ball. Do this for 9 holes to shoot 36!
Shoot 36 or Better to Level Up
Your goal is to shoot 36 or better for nine holes. When you achieve this, you level up and the course gets progressively longer. This helps you gradually develop your skills without feeling overwhelmed.
Curriculum & Coaches Guide You
If you get stuck in a Level, that’s okay! There are 12 standard video skills in each Level to guide you. The NMSU Golf Course is one of 800 partner locations to learn from expert Op 36 Coaches. Your coach will teach each of these 12 skills live in your weekly group classes. Train and track your progress. The Op 36 app gives you all the tools to be successful when you are not with your coach. Follow the training games to know how to practice like a pro to accelerate your skills to shooting 36.
